Threat modeling the contact form
Even a simple inquiry crosses trust boundaries involving personal data, abuse prevention, delivery, and retention.
A contact form is a small interface connected to several sensitive systems. It accepts untrusted input, processes an email address, creates a database record, and may trigger an external delivery provider.
Threat modeling maps those boundaries before implementation. Validation, rate limiting, safe rendering, minimal retention, consent, and delivery controls can then be designed as one coherent flow.
Security does not need to make the experience intimidating. When it is designed early, the visitor sees a calm confirmation while the application quietly enforces strong boundaries.
