Small models, deliberate systems
A focused model can feel remarkably capable when retrieval, prompts, and tools are designed around a clear job.
A smaller model does not need to know everything. It needs the right evidence, a narrow responsibility, and a predictable interface to the rest of the system.
That changes the engineering question. Instead of asking how to make the model universally intelligent, we ask which context is necessary, which actions are allowed, and how success will be measured.
Deliberate systems reduce latency, lower infrastructure demands, and make evaluation more realistic. The model becomes one component inside a product rather than the product itself.
