Designing APIs for adaptive front ends
An adaptive interface needs structured meaning, stable identifiers, and enough context to choose the right presentation.
A front end can only adapt intelligently when its API communicates more than formatted text. Content types should expose intent, relationships, priority, and stable identifiers that the interface can use without guessing.
The client can then choose between cards, a focused explanation, a contact flow, or a deeper navigation path while keeping the underlying source consistent. This also makes analytics and evaluation more meaningful.
Adaptation should never mean unpredictability. A well-designed API gives the interface flexibility inside clearly defined boundaries.
